TUSTIN, Calif., Nov. 15, 2005 - Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc. (TAMS) has announced its platinum sponsorship of the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT). Toshiba is a founding sponsor, contributing $100,000 to the organization as part of its start-up funding campaign.
"We are thrilled with Toshiba's commitment to the SCCT and look forward to a long and successful partnership," said Dr. Daniel Berman, chair, SCCT Corporate Relations Committee. "Together, we will foster cardiovascular CT education, technology application, clinical research and support; and cultivate close relationships with other societies in the fields of cardiology, radiology, and vascular disease."
Founded in March 2005, SCCT exceeds 1,000 members to date, comprised of physicians, scientists and persons who have a general interest in the goals of the SCCT, including nurses, physician assistants, biomedical engineers, computer specialists and industry representatives. The SCCT offers a number of continuing medical education (CME) programs and training courses.

The SCCT plans to utilize Toshiba's contribution to fund activities related to the first-ever annual meeting of the SCCT and other educational activities surrounding the use of CT in cardiology. "Toshiba is proud to support the efforts of SCCT," said Robb Young, senior manager, Cardiology CT, TAMS. "It is our goal to partner with organizations that promote education that will expand the field of cardiovascular CT."

The Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT), headquartered in Damscus, Maryland, the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT) will be the recognized representative and advocate for physicians, scientists and technologists who work in the field of cardiovascular computed tomography. It will nationally and internationally be seen as the principal independent organization committed to the further development of cardiovascular computed tomography through education, training, accreditation, advocacy, quality control and research.
