The second major innovation is a new full coverage detector platform based on Nano-Panel technology that will image an entire organ, such as the heart or head in a single rotation. This new detector is based on tiles that can be integrated into panels of any size, and thus, finally "breaking the slice barrier" of conventional CT scanner technology.

The new PET/CT Viewer available on the Extended Brilliance Workspace offers PET/CT users complete access to the full suite of PET (positron emission tomography) and CT clinical applications. This comprehensive package can adapt to the productivity needs of individual users, substantially improving workflow and efficiency for routine clinical review. The new workspace provides PET users with a truly integrated, powerful, yet simple image review and analysis environment for routine clinical evaluation of PET/CT examinations.

The application delivers real-time slice to slice PET/CT display for improved efficiency in diagnostic case review, a display interface that allows clinicians to optimize review for specific clinical needs and a comparison review of multiple studies of the same patient for follow-up evaluation. In addition, Philips exclusive GuidedFlow technology features a simple graphical user interface for ease of use and enhanced workflow efficiency from diagnostic review to printing and reporting processes, while advanced software applications provide tools to aid in quantitative analysis of cardiovascular and neurological diseases.

Additional Products and Technologies for Enhanced Patient Care

Philips is showcasing a number of new products at this year's RSNA, including the new CT technology (more details follow):
-Providing an efficiency-gaining tool, the new Brilliance Workspace Portal brings CT images to any PC across the healthcare enterprise. Now physicians will be able to view CT scans and case information from their office computer or in other parts of the hospital, helping to make clinical diagnosis faster and more accessible as a way to improve overall patient care.
-Breaking with 25 years of CT history, the new Philips CT Halo eliminates the need for a separate control room for the imaging suite, giving caregivers' more time to focus on their patients by decreasing procedure steps and increasing patient comfort. New design elements inspired by Philips Ambient Experience improve the environment for both the user and the patient - before, during and after the exam - with the operator being able to control all gantry functions from inside the scan room and more closely monitor the patient.
