Philips' Xcelera Focus Series
Andover, Mass., December 19, 2005 - Royal Philips Electronics' Medical Systems division has signed agreements with the Los Angeles County Harbor at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), and Los Angeles County Olive View Medical Centers for the installation of its advanced Cardiology Information Management System, Xcelera.
"In our mind, Philips offers the best overall product and capabilities to allow the two hospitals to network. I believe that for the broad networking we have planned, a single vendor is the way to go", says Dr. William French, Medical Director of the cath lab at LA County Harbor, UCLA. "As a cardiologist, it makes my job easier to partner with Philips so they can provide the network integration into the hospital
environment."

Xcelera is designed around the way clinicians work, integrating the data-rich images generated by echo and cath labs, nuclear medicine, and other departments at a single workspot. Xcelera is a proven, innovative system with a combined installed base of over 1,200 sites worldwide and a long-standing track record of efficiency, reliability and ease of use.
Once the implementation has been successfully completed, both hospitals will be able to perform 'Query/Retrieve' orders of studies done at either hospital, facilitating better collaboration and patient transfer between the two hospitals.
Both hospitals have also signed agreements with Philips for the installation of new catheterization laboratories at each site, including one room with an Allura Xper FD 10/10 system, 3D-CA, pivot table, Xcelera, vascular and coronary software and another with an Allura Xper FD 20 system with syncratilt vascular and cardiac software, 3DRA and an EP Med Systems workmate recording system. With the Philips cath lab technology, the hospitals will be able to offer advanced electrophysiology procedures to patients. Each cath lab will also contain Philips unique interventional tool, StentBoost, which improves the visualization of stents in the coronary arteries. The installation of Xcelera will now enable the hospital to integrate electronic patient record and digital archiving systems to these new labs.
