The Healthcare and Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) will be holding its conference and exhibition at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta from March 1st through the 4th.

As the society's name suggests, the conference, exhibition and related educational seminars focus on information management systems and health IT. This is a hot topic in today's health care world as initiatives are being introduced not only by hospitals, but by legislation at the national level as well.

Some Expected Highlights from the Show

HIMSS 2010 Siemens Programming Experience Messaging
Siemens Healthcare will take a new and specialized, custom programming approach at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) 2010 Annual Conference & Exhibition in order to engage with customers on a more personal level at this critical juncture in health care history. This new programming format will focus on creating an atmosphere dedicated to helping health care providers capitalize on potential benefits and proprietary solution updates in line with The American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA). Additionally, it will provide a forum where customers and prospects can more intimately discuss their individual healthcare goals with Siemens experts and learn more about the robust Siemens portfolio of Health IT solutions.

Carestream Health will be showcasing the following at HIMSS:
A new version of the CARESTREAM Clinical Data Archive that offers consolidated data storage and management for any data type, regardless of vendor. This multi-tier repository accepts XDS, XDS-I, and DICOM as well as non-DICOM data objects.

Upgrades to Carestream Health's PACS platform (as WIP) that facilitate IT support by providing users with one easy-to-use display interface to associate imported DICOM and non-DICOM data into an existing patient portfolio.
