Konica Minolta to Launch Breast Imaging System in Europe

by Barbara Kram, Editor | January 16, 2006
January 13, 2006 -- Konica Minolta Medical is to launch a revolutionary new system for mammography (breast imaging) at the forthcoming European Congress of Radiology in March. The Congress, which is the leading radiological meeting in Europe, will be held at The Vienna International Centre, March 3-7, 2006. Leading doctors from across Europe attend this meeting and it is an excellent showcase for the new system.

At present most mammography examinations are undertaken by recording the images on traditional film whereas many other radiological examinations have, or are in the process of, moving to digital. The minute detail that is required in mammograms has meant that film has been retained pending the availability of an acceptable digital system.

Named PureView, the system produces the highest quality digital images which more than match those taken on film.

The system was formally launched at the recent Radiological Society of North America Meeting in Chicago where it received great acclaim. The system will be introduced into a leading UK hospital shortly after the meeting in Vienna.
