GE Definium 8000
Waukesha, Wis., - GE Healthcare has announced that Sullivan Orthopedic Associates of Stoughton is the first orthopedic practice in Massachusetts to acquire GE's state-of-the-art digital X-ray technology. This new digital radiographic (DR) system, called the Definium 8000, brings a new era of orthopedic imaging that previously was only available in Boston hospitals or larger clinical settings. The new Definium 8000 is designed to streamline challenging exams with consistent and superior image quality, allowing doctors at Sullivan Orthopedic Associates to provide early diagnosis, treatment and study of musculoskeletal diseases and disorders while reducing waiting time for patients.

Ken D'Arrigo, Sullivan Orthopedic practice administrator, said, "We are thrilled with the clinical benefits of this new digital technology. The new Definium 8000 allows our staff to be more efficient, eliminate delays, provide immediate access to images within seconds, and instantly transmit to multiple locations with astonishing ease. This technology provides far superior image quality than we could attain with our standard film system."

Sullivan Orthopedics is in the process of a new technological initiative, which will include integrating its practice management system as well as electronic medical records. The new effort, expected to last 12 - 18 months, brings the clinical benefits of digital technology to orthopedic patients throughout the greater Brockton and Stoughton area.

GE Healthcare is the only imaging company with dedicated resources and a broad portfolio of products and services geared towards the orthopedic industry. GE's Orthopedic business is spread across all of its product lines including: extremity MRI, whole body MR, CT, x-ray, computed radiography (CR), billing and scheduling software, electronic medical record and PACS.

"We are proud to begin this new relationship with Sullivan Orthopedics and are eager to provide Sullivan with the best solutions for their current and future needs," said Tammy Garcia, General Manager of GE's Orthopedic Division. "Through our 'One Source One Solution' GE is committed to be a one-stop-shop of orthopedic products and services for both doctors and patients."
