"With the opening of this Lutherville center, Mercy transforms a vacant grocery store into a convenient location for quality health care," said Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz. "This innovative use of space is a clear example of how creative thinking can reinvigorate older commercial buildings."
According to LPP medical director Dr. George Lowe, the multi-phase project is "about two months ahead of schedule. We had 12 new primary care providers and five Mercy specialty providers begin seeing patients at the new location earlier in early March and now have 14 primary care physicians on site. Eventually, we'll have 42 Mercy specialists seeing patients here," Dr. Lowe said.
In the coming weeks and months, additional phases of Lutherville Personal Physicians will open which include these Mercy Centers of Excellence: Weinberg Center for Women's Health & Medicine, The Orthopedic Specialty Hospital, The Institute for Cancer Care, The Center for Digestive Health and Liver Disease, The Vascular Center and The Heart Center. In all, more than 30 Mercy specialists will be available to treat patients at the new Lutherville site.
"We've seen an outpouring of patients since March and expect between 75-100,000 primary care patient visits per year," Dr. Lowe added.
