A car smashed through the wall of a Mass. hospital's radiology department Thursday, damaging nuclear medicine equipment.
A man in his 60s was pulling out of a parking lot at the Leonard Norse Hospital in Natick, when his 2007 Mustang shot across the lot, smacked into a 2010 Nissan Altima, and careened in to the wall of the radiology department, according to reports from the Boston Globe and WHDH-TV.
Pictures from the scene show the loop of a Philips-made scanner peeping through a large gash in the wall.
The driver wasn't seriously hurt, and no one else was injured. But the patient was briefly trapped in the car until first responders managed to free him. As of yesterday, he was being evaluated by the hospital's emergency department.
In the radiology department, a nuclear medicine camera was damaged, according to reports.
The police are still investigating. No charges have been filed and a hospital spokeswoman told the Globe the crash "definitely wasn't on purpose."
After the crash, the emergency room next door was closed for an hour as the lot was crowded with vehicles responding to the accident, the Globe said.
