Second annual low-dose image competition nets over 600 customer submissions from 43 countries

Malvern, Pa. - Siemens Healthcare announced the winners of its 2011 International CT Image Contest at the 97th Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), November 27 to December 2 in Chicago. More than 160 institutes and hospitals from 43 countries on all continents submitted over 600 computed tomography (CT) images - all captured on Siemens CT scanners using the lowest possible radiation dose. Selected by an international jury of experts, the seven winners - which were displayed at RSNA '11 - hail from China, England, France, Ireland, Macau, Singapore and the U.S. In addition to exhibiting a high standard of quality, the images are impressive examples of how valuable diagnostic information can be obtained even at an extremely low dose.

For this second annual contest, Siemens customers with a SOMATOM Definition, SOMATOM Emotion, SOMATOM Sensation or SOMATOM Spirit CT scanner were invited to present clinical images in seven medical categories to an international jury of recognized experts.
