Fischer Medical Technologies LLC said Tuesday it gained exclusive U.S. distribution rights to the Giotto digital mammography and biopsy system. Financial terms for the multi-year agreement were not disclosed.
The ring-shaped Giotto system, cleared for sale in the U.S. by the Food and Drug Administration in late October, is made by Internazionale Medico Scientifica out of Bologna, Italy. It can perform both upright breast scans and prone stereotactic biopsies, Fischer said.
The new Fischer-Giotto division for distributing the product will be managed by Robert Rusk, who previously led Giotto USA since its founding in 2005.
