During TAVR diagnosis and pre-procedural planning, the SOMATOM® Definition Flash dual-source CT system enables rapid acquisition of all relevant information with minimum dose and contrast. From the CT data set, the user can assess measurements to help determine the best type and size of implant. During the procedure, Siemens' syngo® Aortic ValveGuide software presents the physician with an automated 3D reconstruction of the aortic root, providing the optimal C-arm angulation and indication of anatomical landmarks for accurate valve deployment. These 3D images are overlaid to live 2D fluoro for improved guidance during TAVR. Siemens' volume ICE catheter provides real-time volume imaging and improves visualization of cardiac anatomy and devices.

Software, C-arm advances in interventional cardiology
The syngo Aortic ValveGuide, Siemens' integrated image processing software, automatically reconstructs a 3D representation of the aortic root from cross-sectional images acquired with the angiography system to provide an ideal projection for valve replacement. The software identifies critical anatomical landmarks and overlays the 3D image with 2D images acquired during live fluoroscopy, enabling the physician to obtain real-time 3D guidance within the patient's body while navigating the new aortic valve to its intended location.

The use of intraprocedural 3D representations of anatomy is not limited to valve replacements, and is more important than ever with the increasing trend toward minimally invasive treatment of structural heart diseases. Siemens' syngo DynaCT cardiac software addresses this need by reconstructing into a volume those images captured during rotational angiography.

Enabling pre- and intra-procedural high-quality imaging directly in the hybrid suite, the Artis zeego® multi-axis robotic C-arm system supports cardiologists and surgeons in the treatment of structural heart diseases with its unique positioning flexibility and high-quality 2D and 3D imaging. The Artis zeego boasts multiple park positions and a small footprint that make it ideal for the hybrid environment; its flexible working height reduces fatigue associated with long procedures. Siemens' CLEAR technology - a comprehensive range of applications designed to bolster image quality and elevate certainty during interventional procedures - and a new generation of X-ray tubes further optimize the Artis zeego images. For this reason, contrasts are more readily visible, even in real-time imaging of obese patients.
