Wayne, NJ - Konica Minolta Medical Imaging announced today that Cameron Memorial Community Hospital, a 25-bed critical access hospital (CAH) in Angola, IN, recently installed the wireless Aero DR in its Imaging Services department. The hospital is modifying both a fixed and portable X-ray unit from CR to DR with one Aero DR plate.
"We wanted to implement technology that would lower our patients' exposure to radiation dose without impacting image quality and enable quicker access to images, especially for emergency and critically-ill patients," says Todd Duff, BS, RT(N), Imaging Services Director. "The detector is lightweight, durable and sealed, which is ideal for cleaning and infection prevention."
Cameron Memorial partnered with RPS Imaging, an Elite Midwest distributor of Konica Minolta, to come up with the most reliable solution that would increase productivity. As a CAH, it is important for Cameron Memorial to provide high-quality, timely healthcare as the primary provider of health care services in the area. All basic radiology services are provided 24 hours each day and the Aero DR communicates directly with the hospital's PACS to enhance the efficiency of patient diagnosis.

Aero DR is the world's most lightweight wireless DR, weighing in at 6.3 lbs., and also features a unique battery design for extended life and short charge cycles. Its 17" x 17" and 14" x 17" detectors incorporate Konica Minolta's Cesium Iodide (CsI) scintillator that boast ultra-high detector quantum efficiency (DQE) and take advantage of Konica Minolta's very low power IC design to decrease read-out noise and further raise DQE.
