It's been a busy 12 months for New York Imaging Service (NYIS). The Newburgh, N.Y.-based imaging equipment and service provider recently announced the acquisition of GXC Imaging Specialists, its fourth acquisition since March of last year.
For several years, NYIS has worked closely with GXC Imaging Specialists, which boosts a 54-year-old track record in capital equipment sales and service in the Western New York region.
"This acquisition is a natural extension of our close collaboration and will enable us to provide an unprecedented level of product choice, technologically advanced support and superior service to hospitals and imaging centers in this region," said Rob Muzzio, president of GXC Imaging, in an official statement. Muzzio will continue to maintain a leadership role for NYIS in the Western New York region as well.

According to NYIS, this latest acquisition will make the company the largest privately owned digital X-ray dealer in New York State. NYIS also services New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania.
In addition to providing imaging products to the medical imaging market — including sports teams, hospitals, imaging centers, medical groups, and radiology facilities — NYIS is known for its proprietary cloud-based service system that allows technicians to solve support issues instantaneously via remote diagnostics and repair.
In 2012, NYIS acquired Optimal Imaging of Holbrook, NY; Metropolitan Medical Imaging of Eatontown, NJ; and Professional Equipment Company of Guilford, Connecticut, which operates under the name Prestige Medical Imaging. According to NYIS, the company plans to expand this year beyond New York and into the mid-Atlantic and New England regions.
