Center Previously Installed Four CARESTREAM DRX-Revolution Systems To Help Enhance Patient Care in ER, Surgical Suite and Critical Care Areas

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Veterans Affairs Medical Center (Oklahoma City, Okla.) recently ordered three CARESTREAM DRX-Evolution DR Rooms and previously installed two DRX-Evolution systems and four CARESTREAM DRX-Revolution Mobile X-ray Systems to boost staff productivity, streamline workflow and help enhance image quality.

The VA center is updating outdated imaging technology in all of its radiology rooms. "We knew we were going to replace all the rooms so we wanted to standardize on a single DR platform to expedite quality control and staff productivity," said Manny Delgado, RT, ARRT, Supervisor of Radiology. After evaluating six suppliers, Delgado and the hospital's technologists selected the DRX-Evolution.
Two of the DRX-Evolution rooms have already been installed in the radiology department. One DRX-Evolution is equipped with an automated table, automated wall stand and two DRX-1 detectors and is used for complex exams. The other DRX-Evolution is a single-detector system with a wall stand and is used primarily for chest and extremity exams.

Delgado is impressed with the system's design, which streamlines the capture of orthopaedic and cross-table exams along with other studies. "The DRX-Evolution's automated features such as the motorized overhead tube and motorized wall stand provide automatic positioning for each exam. This helps our staff achieve consistent image quality while eliminating the need for technologists to manually move the equipment into position," he explained.

"Both the hardware and the software offered by this system can help radiology departments enhance image quality, reduce dose, and maintain consistency across all rooms and users," said Delgado. He noted that tracking radiation dose and repeat rates by technologist, room and other factors is required for Veterans Affairs medical facilities. "Carestream's administrative software allows me to quickly and easily access this data as well as other imaging information to better manage our department."

The hospital installed four DRX-Revolution Mobile X-ray systems to provide high-quality digital imaging in the ER, surgical suite, critical care unit and surgical intensive care unit.
