Last Friday, Siemens Healthcare received FDA 510(k) clearance for its third-generation advanced modeled iterative reconstruction (ADMIRE) algorithm — their new imaging reconstruction algorithm for CT.
It's available now on the SOMATOM Force dual-source CT system, which got FDA approval in April, and it supplements the sinogram affirmed iterative reconstruction (SAFIRE) algorithm. That algorithm can reduce radiation dose by 60 percent, according to the company.
ADMIRE works by improving the reconstructed image quality and producing images with a natural image impression, which allows for low-dose imaging in many studies which previously could not be done.

ADMIRE can also help deliver improved resolution at high contrast edges because of the additional modeling loops it uses.
