ROCHESTER, N.Y., August 28 -- The Regional Shared Health Information Program (RSHIP), Alberta, Canada, has placed a multi-million-dollar order for dozens of KODAK DIRECTVIEW Computed Radiography (CR) and Digital Radiography (DR) Systems. These systems will be installed at 34 hospitals and healthcare centers within the David Thompson Health and East Central Health Regions over eight months, beginning immediately.

The order includes 43 KODAK DIRECTVIEW CR 975, CR 850 and CR 825 Systems, one KODAK DIRECTVIEW DR 3000 System, six KODAK DRYVIEW 8900 and 8150 Laser Imaging Systems and six KODAK LS75 Film Digitizers. RSHIP also ordered KODAK DIRECTVIEW Capture Link Systems, which streamline workflow by allowing technologists to perform cassette identification, scanning, and image review functions on any networked KODAK CR System at each site. The Capture Link System also allows images captured with a CR system to be integrated into a DR imaging study.

The Regional Shared Health Information Program conducted an extensive evaluation process that involved 10 suppliers prior to selecting Kodak's Health Group for this large-scale regional implementation.

""Kodak provides a full suite of computed and digital radiography solutions that meet the diverse needs of each application and each hospital. We are confident in Kodak's ability to supply leading-edge technology and the levels of service RSHIP needs to be successful in the implementation and support of this project," said Brian Kroeker, Director of Operations for the Regional Shared Health Information Program.

Kodak's CR and DR systems will provide high-resolution digital x-ray image capture for general radiology, emergency, intensive care, and other departments within each hospital. Laser imagers output digital image files onto radiographic film, while film digitizers equip facilities to integrate existing film-based radiographs into a digital imaging workflow.

Kodak's Broad Portfolio of Solutions
Kodak's broad portfolio of digital capture solutions includes seven CR systems and three DR systems designed to meet the requirements of every application and budget. Kodak's consistent operator interface for both CR and DR platforms improves productivity and reduces the need for training. Kodak also offers software that enhances the quality of CR and DR images by presenting both high-contrast and wide latitude data simultaneously.
