Dowd has served on both the Education Foundation and AHRA Board of Directors. During her board terms, Dowd was part of the EF and AHRA Finance Committees, the Executive Committee, and the Strategic Planning Committee. She also served as the Board Liaison to The RACC.
Dowd’s commitment to the association and to advancing the profession of medical imaging is obvious. Her support of the Education Foundation has been unyielding. Dowd served as Co-Chair for the Silent Auction, was a member of the Imaging Advisory Council, the Foundation Partnership Initiative , and EF Member Appeal Committees. She is currently a member of the Nominations Committee and Curriculum Committee.

Dowd played an integral part in the development of the Leadership Institute. Terry is a staple at AHRA’s conferences with numerous presentations over a span of nearly a decade.
Dowd has also been an active contributor to Link and Radiology Management. She has authored many Link articles since 2004. Dowd was awarded the 2003 Creative Management Article Radiology Management Editorial Award for her part of “Staff Retention & Recruitment: One Great Department”. Beyond her written contributions, Dowd also served on the Editorial Review Board, the Editorial Award Selection team and was part of the Volunteer Writer’s Workshop in 2005.
Dowd has served the association in many capacities and continues to do so. She takes each of her commitments seriously and is a loyal AHRA member, leader, and mentor.
The ARRS Gold Medal
The ARRS Gold Medal is the American Roentgen Ray Society’s highest honor awarded to recipients for distinguished service to radiology. Three recipients were named this year.
Michael P. Federle, MD, is a professor of radiology at Stanford University and the associate chair in charge of education for the department.
Federle earned his undergraduate degree in biology at Marquette University in Milwaukee and his MD at Georgetown University. He completed an internship in internal medicine at the University of Cincinnati Hospital and a second residency in radiology there. Thereafter, Federle taught at the University of California, San Francisco where he also served as chief of radiology, vice chair of radiology, section chief of CT body scanning and gastrointestinal radiology, and chief of the medical staff.
