Each year at RSNA, a few trends emerge from amongst the exhibiting companies. This year was no different, with at least four major OEMs touting upgrades and updates to their CT systems that help to limit blurring around implanted metal devices such as knee replacements or hip joints.
The rationale for this push is twofold. In the first place, implanted devices are lasting longer, but it can be necessary to see how a patient's body is holding up around a device. Secondly, with a growing population of older patients, implants are becoming more common.
