The lounge in the hospitality tent
is a popular meeting place for
MD Expo attendees
MD Expo is a dream show to go to -- as attendees from the past five years will tell you. The event will take place October 10-13 at the Evergreen Marriott Conference Resort, Stone Mountain, Georgia. Host MD Publishing rolls out the red carpet for about 500 guests and 80 exhibitors at an event that is known for its resort fun, first class food and luxury. But the best attraction off all is the business opportunity for repeat and first-time attendees.
"Without a doubt people come for the networking," said John Krieg, publisher of industry flagships Medical Dealer, OR Today, and the Medical Dealers Buyers Guide. "We focus on the hospitality and networking end of it as opposed to the typical trade show."

MD Expo is especially conducive to networking with business associates and making new connections because the show is concentrated in size and contained in one resort location. "That's done by design. We do not want to have a big trade show hall," Krieg said. "The real value is the networking, friendships new and old, and continued education. And it's amazing the amount of business our 80 exhibitors do in an intimate show hall setting. I hear countless big sales stories all of the time."
Continuing education programs include a CRES preview with expert preparation for the Certified Radiology Equipment Specialist Examination. Many other CE tracks are also covered in business development, biomed/clinical engineering, and O.R./surgery centers.
A new event his year is Vendor Demo Day on October 12, with six big OEMs showcasing their latest medical equipment technologies: Welch Allyn, Spacelabs Medical, RTI Electronics, Four Rivers Software Systems, Nihon Kohden America, and Datascope. Highlights include state-of-the-art systems in biomed, IT, surgical and radiology.
Other sessions will feature experts on topics including asset management, a JCAHO standards update, and an IAMERS talk on FDA compliance. Guest speaker A. Ray Dalton from PartsSource, among the Inc. 500 fastest-growing private companies, will share insights on entrepreneurship.
If you've been to the MD Expo, you know why it has a repeat attendance as high as any trade show. The great hospitality suite and events like the lakeside party make it a highlight on anyone's calendar.
"Trade shows sometimes lose the human aspect and that face-to-face contact and we are trying to do more of that," Krieg said.
