in advancing clinical informatics
MALVERN, Pa. Siemens Medical Solutions (www.usa.siemens.com/healthcareit) continues to demonstrate its contributions to the advancement of the field of clinical informatics through the delivery of innovative solutions. Toward this end, Siemens executives and customers participates in the American Medical Informatics Associations (AMIA) 2006 symposium titled Biomedical & Health Informatics: From Foundations to Applications to Policy." Through participation in presentations and panel discussions at this week's event, Siemens executives and customers educated symposium attendees about key advancements in clinical informatics and how to successfully use information technology (IT) to support safer care delivery, collaboration among the clinical team, and help improve clinical outcomes.

Siemens was also the Emerald Sponsor of the 3rd Annual AMIA Pre-conference Nursing Informatics Symposium, RHIOs and Nursing: Information at the Center of Care, which took place on November 11, 2006. Attendees learned more about RHIOs through an important panel discussion, RHIOs and Consumers. The discussion explored the new opportunities and challenges that health information exchange present to nursing. Siemens customer Kathryn Wilhoit, RN, MSN, CNAA, FACHE, VP and CNE, Mountain States Health Alliance, served as one of the panelists.
