Intersocietal Commission
for the Accreditation of Nuclear
Medicine Laboratories accredits
nuclear cardiology, as well as
nuclear medicine and PET
Beginning March 1, 2008, UnitedHealthcare will require accreditation for medical imaging reimbursement. Freestanding imaging facilities and physicians' offices must gain accreditation in order to be reimbursed by UHC plans, which cover more than 25 million people. More than 500,000 practitioners and 4,600 hospitals in the U.S. provide care to UHC subscribers.
The accreditation requirements cover CT, CTA, MRI, MRA, nuclear medicine/cardiology, PET and echocardiography.
For helpful information, visit the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission, which is assisting labs in meeting the requirements.
