A new study from the University of Pennsylvania validates the Philips GEMINI TF PET/CT. The study was published in the current issue (March 2007) of The Journal of Nuclear Medicine.
The study analyzed the performance of the PET component of the Philips GEMINI TF, which is the first commercially available, fully 3D time-of-flight (TOF) PET scanner. The scanner incorporates a new, high-performance PET scanner with very good TOF and non-TOF PET capabilities. In addition to its conventional imaging capabilities, the scanner has a timing resolution of about 600 ps, which allows its use as a routine TOF PET scanner with improved image quality. This improvement of image quality with TOF information offers greater benefits, especially when scanning heavier patients.
