Lake Success, N.Y. - Canon U.S.A, Inc. has announced that Riverside Medical Clinic purchased two new Canon CXDI-40EG General Digital Radiography (DR) systems and four new Canon CXDI-50G Portable DR systems to help increase workflow productivity and to help to improve image processing efficiency within its radiography rooms.

The new Canon DR systems have been integrated onto Riverside Medical Clinic's Shimadzu Rad and RF systems. This latest deployment of Canon technology increases the number of Canon DR sensors used by Riverside Medical Clinic to 12. Riverside Medical Clinic, with four facilities in Southern California, is a fully-accredited, multi-specialty group that serves a community of more than 226,000 people. Riverside Medical Clinic purchased the Canon DR systems through Preferred Diagnostic Equipment Service, Inc., a member of the dealer network for Virtual Imaging, Inc., an authorized Canon distributor.

"The Canon DR systems have a proven track record at Riverside Medical Clinic in Southern California," said Tsuneo Imai, director and general manager, Medical Systems Division, Canon U.S.A., Inc. "The addition of the new CXDI-40EG and CXDI-50G DR systems will support improved quality and will provide Riverside Medical Clinic with the capability to increase the number of exams given at Riverside's facilities."

According to Judy Carpenter, president and chief operating officer of Riverside Medical Clinic, "The new Canon-equipped radiographic rooms, combined with our new x-ray equipment have made our imaging processing much more efficient in our brand-new Imaging Department. We appreciated working with Preferred Diagnostic, who consulted with us to design the right system to provide enhanced imaging capabilities and increased workflow productivity for our radiologists and technologists. We are pleased with the speed and the quality of the images and we trust the Canon brand for technology and dependability."

The Canon CXDI-40EG General DR system provides a large imaging area of 17-inches x 17-inches, and lets you capture desired anatomical views for both large and small format X-rays in portrait or landscape orientation without having to rotate the detector unit. This system can retrofit onto almost any new or existing bucky table, upright tilting wall stand, universal or ceiling suspended multi-positioning unit.

Canon was the first in the industry to deliver a portable DR system in 2001. One of its newest portable DR systems - the Canon CXDI-50G DR system - is a lightweight, large imaging area (17-inches x 14-inches) DR system designed for diverse applications including trauma and bedside exams.
