Providence, RI - June 7, 2007 -- Less than one year since receiving FDA approval for its Full Field Digital Mammography (FFDM) system, FUJIFILM Medical Systems USA, Inc. has achieved record sales of Fuji Computed Radiography for Mammography (FCRm). The dominant worldwide leader in FFDM installations now with more than 3,600 FCRm readers installed around the globe, Fujifilm quickly surpassed the 100 unit mark in the US, enabling more than 150 mammography exam rooms to convert to digital.
"The demand that we expected for Fujifilm's digital mammography system has come to fruition since we received our FDA approval in July 2006," said Andy Vandergrift, Fujifilm's National Marketing Manager, Women's Healthcare Imaging. "Breast imaging providers need a digital mammography system that produces superior image quality and will enable them to readily convert all of their screening rooms to digital at the same time. FCRm offers this unique combination of benefits which has made Fujifilm the clear choice for many facilities and enabled us to pass the 100 unit sales milestone in record time."
The multi-reader offering of FCRm presents mammography providers with various equipment configuration combinations, from a centrally located multi-plate reader serving several rooms, to a single plate reader installed right in the exam room. This system flexibility, combined with validated image quality and ease-of-use for technologists, has made FCRm particularly ideal for large screening facilities. They recognize the value of simultaneously transitioning all of their screening rooms from analog to digital instead of being economically constrained to a room-by-room conversion, or working in a less-than-optimal hybrid film/digital environment.

"It's been a tremendously successful year for FCRm," said Vandergrift. "We've proven that we can meet any need in the marketplace regardless of image quality standards, facility size or throughput requirements. And now with the imminent approval of CAD for use with FCRm, we have even loftier expectations for the coming year. We look forward to helping more facilities make a complete transition to FFDM and ensuring this technology is available to as many women as possible."
