GE Announces New CT Technology at Stanford Symposium

by Barbara Kram, Editor | June 19, 2007

GE's BrightSpeed Select is the next generation of the company's mid-tier, multi-detector BrightSpeed computed tomography scanner. The BrightSpeed Select CTs provide exceptional image quality, productivity capabilities and reliability of the industry-leading LightSpeed systems, in an even smaller design. The first of GE Healthcare's smallest, multi-detector BrightSpeed Select computed tomography systems is destined for Central Diagnostic Imaging, Inc in Norwich, NY. The BrightSpeed "Select" series scanner continues to include the proven advanced technology available on the company's volume CT system, the LightSpeed VCT. GE has attracted the interest of a broad audience of healthcare facilities that have single or dual slice CT systems and are interested in growing and improving the services for their referring physicians and patients.

LightSpeed RT16 is GE's new wide bore computed tomography (CT) platform, the world's most powerful 16-slice wide bore CT system which enables advanced imaging for radiation therapy planning. LightSpeed RT16 is uniquely positioned to provide resolution, power and speed to meet the most challenging clinical needs. With optional high power generator and tube capability, lightning fast gantry speeds, and an extra large 80 cm gantry opening for better patient positioning, clinicians have freedom to see the patient's entire anatomy in four dimensions with substantial detail.
