ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Carestream Health, Inc., announced Illinois Valley Community Hospital (Peru, Ill.) placed an order for two of its digital radiography systems: a KODAK DIRECTVIEW DR 3000 and a KODAK DIRECTVIEW DR 7500 System. The hospital selected Carestream Health over three competing vendors because of the DIRECTVIEW product line's exceptional image quality and convenient user interface.

"The company's DR systems came out on top in our comparison of image quality, speed and ease of use as well as service and support," said Cindy Herrmann, the hospital's Administrative Director of Diagnostic Imaging. "The consistent user interface between the new DR systems and our existing KODAK DIRECTVIEW CR systems will help improve staff productivity and reduce training time. The company's history of outstanding service at our facility was also an important factor in our decision."

The hospital also purchased the KODAK DIRECTVIEW Capture Link System, which links DIRECTVIEW CR and DR systems. This software delivers the ability to integrate CR images with DR studies and perform cassette processing and image review at any CR system.

The hospital will use the compact DR 3000 system to conduct x-ray exams on its ambulatory patients, and will use the DR 7500 system to capture exams for trauma patients, according to Herrmann. The DR 7500 will be configured as a single-detector system with an elevating table while the DR 3000 system will employ a floor-mounted stand. Both systems feature auto centering and tracking features that save time for radiologic technologists and patients.

When these systems are installed, the hospital expects to handle its growing patient workload with just two x-ray rooms and re-configure its two existing additional x-ray rooms for other purposes, Herrmann added.

The DR 7500 can be configured as a single- or dual-detector system. The system's wall stand features a unique retractable Bucky capable of three-axis movement and a fixed, elevating table with four-way float provides flexible patient positioning. The table Bucky can be extended from the table to accommodate extremity exams.

The compact DR 3000 system is designed to meet the needs and budget of a broad range of healthcare facilities including mid-size hospitals, outpatient imaging centers and orthopaedic clinics. It features optional moveable tables and a floor-mounted stand that does not require wall mounts or ceiling suspension provisions. This creates greater placement flexibility and reduces the cost of installation.

Carestream Health, an independent company, has licensed the Kodak brand for use with its own brands-such as CARESTREAM, DIRECTVIEW and DRYVIEW-across its portfolio of leading-edge medical imaging and healthcare IT products.
