Major medical rental firm US Med-Equip, has stated that in just the past few weeks rentals of ventilators, monitors and other gear by U.S. hospitals are surging — up 60 percent year over year.

"Our team is working around the clock to provide patient-ready equipment so medical staff can focus on their lifesaving work," CEO Gurmit Singh Bhatia said in a statement,
according to Fox News.
On March 13, President Trump issued a memo to
loosen restrictions on the medical use of industrial respirators to help ease the shortage.
“Unfortunately, at present, public health experts anticipate shortages in the supply of personal respiratory devices available for use by healthcare workers in mitigating further transmission,” Trump said, ordering Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar to “take all appropriate and necessary steps” to boost supply.
