Siemens showcased the
Artis zee family
of interventional
imaging systems.
CHICAGO, Ill. - Siemens Healthcare (www.usa.siemens.com/healthcare) demonstrated how its laboratory diagnostics, imaging and information technology (IT) solutions are helping to "Bring a New Rhythm to Cardiology Workflow," at the 57th Annual Scientific Session of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) this week.
Siemens showcased the Artis zee® family of interventional imaging systems. With Artis zee systems, users can see vessel edges more precisely, and ensure proper stent positioning within seconds. The family's future-forward design also supports emerging therapeutic treatments. In addition, the Artis zeego®, which recently received U.S. Food and Drug Administration 510(k) marketing clearance, features a multi-axis C-arm that employs robotic technology to extend imaging capabilities through virtually unrestricted positioning.
Also on display was the cardiovascular version of the ACUSON X300™, an all-purpose ultrasound system that provides compact, portable color Doppler solutions for adult, pediatric, OR, EP, and interventional cardiology applications.

Another featured technology was syngo® Dynamics for multi-modality diagnostic image management and the Soarian® Cardiology cardiovascular information system. With Soarian Cardiology and syngo Dynamics, Siemens advances its trendsetting strategy of delivering end-to-end IT, imaging and workflow solutions. In a clinical environment where images are critical to the care of a patient, physicians need all images and data accessible at one workstation and available via a longitudinal clinical repository. This solution helps enable the goal of a seamless, optimized workflow for the care of the cardiovascular patient.
Siemens Users Share Best Practices
Also at the 2008 ACC, Siemens asked a number of customers to present short success stories to conference attendees about how Siemens technology has helped them "Bring a New Rhythm to Cardiology Workflow." Topics ranged from reducing door-to-balloon time with the company's innovative X-ray imaging systems to reducing the time it takes to generate a cardiology report with the company's image and information management solutions.
A roundup of highlights includes:
Cardiovascular CT
The world's first dual source CT, the SOMATOM Definition™, is faster than every heartbeat, eliminating the need for beta blockers and reducing radiation exposure by as much as 50 percent when compared to traditional cardiac CT imaging. In addition to advanced imaging, syngo® WebSpace represents the latest innovation in client-server solutions for CT applications and offers real-time access to CT data at a doctor's office or home, and even on the road through a network connection.
