The annual educational
conference of the Jefferson
Ultrasound Institute
The "Leading Edge" is the annual educational conference of the Jefferson Ultrasound Institute. Since its debut in 1980 the program has established a reputation for excellence and has become the largest East Coast educational conference for ultrasound with over 1,200 attendees.
The 2008 Leading Edge will be held in the Borgata Hotel Casino, Atlantic City, New Jersey May 20-23.
Designed to meet the educational and CME needs of physicians, sonographers, vascular technologists, nurse midwives and other participants, the conference provides updates on the major specialty areas and overviews of the "hot" topics in diagnostic ultrasound. Parallel tracks allow the attendees to create a "custom" program that addresses the areas of most interest to them.

The 2008 program will also include two completely new tracks: a Elastography Tutorial and a Fetal Nuchal Translucency Credentialing Program.
One of the highlights of the program is the large exhibit area where manufacturers can display their latest diagnostic equipment. This gives attendees the opportunity to see all the latest equipment and technology in one place and to make immediate comparisons between instruments.
The program is sponsored by the Jefferson Ultrasound Research and Education Institute of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia and directed by Barry B. Goldberg, MD, one of the pioneers of diagnostic ultrasound and the recipient of numerous awards and honors. Dr. Goldberg is the Founder and Director of the Jefferson Ultrasound Research and Education Institute (JUREI), which is recognized as the only center for continuing education in general ultrasound by the World Health Organization.
The Leading Edge program is Co-Directed by Oksana H. Baltarowich, MD, Flemming Forsberg, PhD, Frederick Kremkau, PhD, Alfred B. Kurtz, MD, Levon Nazarian, MD, Laurence Needleman, MD, Henrietta Rosenberg, MD and Annina N. Wilkes, MD.
