M.D. Shortage Leads to $1 Million Offer

by Barbara Kram, Editor | June 02, 2008
A doctor is worth
$1 million dollars
We know that clinicians are in short supply worldwide, but the news out of Australia is astonishing: An X-Ray clinic in Queensland is offering a $1 million salary for a new radiologist, according to the local media. (That's about $950,000 U.S.)

North Queensland X-ray Service placed a help wanted add in the Townsville Bulletin, along with other outlets offering up to $1 million for the right doctor. The clinic's director cited the shortage of professionals as the reason for the high salary offer. A typical radiologist in the country's public health system makes up to $500,000.
