ImmersiveTouch Inc., a digital surgery company based in Chicago, has received FDA 510(k) clearance for its augmented reality platform, ImmersiveAR, opening the technology up to operating rooms across the United States.
ImmersiveAR expands on ImmersiveTouch's suite of AI-powered virtual surgical planning tools, which reduce preoperative planning time for craniomaxillofacial (CMF) surgeries, by enabling surgeons to simulate surgical changes and plan outcomes tailored to a patient's anatomy, aiming to minimize errors and complications.
Dr. David Hirsch, senior vice president of dental medicine at Northwell Health, praised the technology, stating, "This virtual reality and augmented reality imaging provides remarkably detailed images of a patient’s anatomy, helping us foresee complications and reduce both planning and surgical time, resulting in a safer patient experience with fewer complications."

This FDA clearance follows a period of significant growth for ImmersiveTouch, including strategic partnerships and an expanding presence in leading hospitals. To date, the company has served over 4,000 patients, underscoring its impact on the healthcare industry.
“ImmersiveAR brings a new frontier in intraoperative 3D visualization,” said Jay Banerjee, CEO of ImmersiveTouch. “The surgical field has long relied on traditional two-dimensional imaging technology to navigate complex patient anatomy. Our platform introduces advanced holographic visualization to transform how surgeons plan and perform procedures.”
The platform is applicable to a variety of surgical procedures.
