FUJIFILM Healthcare Americas Corporation unveiled Synapse One, its new enterprise imaging and informatics platform designed specifically for outpatient imaging centers, during the RSNA meeting in Chicago.
Synapse One integrates a wide range of imaging and information system tools into a single platform hosted in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) public cloud. It combines key components such as a radiology information system (RIS), picture archiving and communication system (PACS), advanced 3D imaging, revenue cycle management options, scheduling capabilities, and patient and physician portals.
Fujifilm positions the system as a cost-saving measure for imaging centers looking to streamline operations and reduce reliance on third-party vendors. The goal is to simplify IT infrastructure while maintaining the functionality of the company’s broader Synapse Enterprise Imaging offering.

“In an environment where radiologists are continuously asked to read more imaging, and imaging centers are looking for every edge to be more efficient and competitive, we saw a unique opportunity to combine our technologies into Synapse One,” said Bill Lacy, senior vice president of medical informatics global business at Fujifilm Healthcare Americas. “We wanted to set a high bar with Synapse One and lower current operational spending, while at the same time, deliver a better technology solution and deliver it in a more secure cloud environment.”
By consolidating multiple applications and moving infrastructure to the cloud, Fujifilm says users may reduce expenses tied to hardware, data security, and service contracts. The company also notes that freeing up these operational costs could allow providers to invest in additional tools like artificial intelligence and prior authorization systems.
Synapse One will be available exclusively to users in North America.
