The Melbourne, Australia-based Pro Medicus has secured a five-year contract valued at A$23 million (USD $16 million) with the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) to deploy its enterprise imaging platform.
The agreement, signed through its U.S. subsidiary Visage Imaging, covers the implementation of the Visage 7 Viewer and Visage 7 Workflow products across the UMMS network. The platform will be delivered via a cloud-based model and structured under a transaction-based licensing arrangement, which the company said could expand over time.
UMMS operates a network of hospitals and specialty centers across Maryland, including the University of Maryland Medical Center, a comprehensive cancer center and a pediatric hospital. The system also collaborates with the University of Maryland School of Medicine and includes the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center.

Deployment planning is set to begin immediately, with the system expected to go live in early 2027.
In a statement, Pro Medicus CEO Dr. Sam Hupert said, “UMMS provides cutting-edge, innovative patient care across the state of Maryland. They join an ever-growing list of Visage 7 clients to opt for our fully cloud-based platform, which, as a result of our CloudPACS strategy, is becoming the standard in the North American healthcare IT market.”
Hupert also pointed to broader workforce pressures influencing adoption. “The global shortage of radiologists is driving healthcare institutions to adopt enterprise imaging platforms that maximise radiologist efficiency and subspecialty workflows with the added security and scalability of the cloud. We will provide that for UMMS across its academic, community and specialty hospital clinical footprint,” he said.
The contract adds to Pro Medicus’ growing presence in the U.S. market, where health systems are increasingly shifting imaging infrastructure to cloud-based environments.
