Siemens Healthcare (www.siemens.com/healthcare) celebrated completion of a 115,000 square foot facility expansion today at its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Walpole, Massachusetts. Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics is the leading clinical diagnostics company in the world, offering the most comprehensive portfolio of products and solutions used to diagnose, treat and monitor patients around the globe.
Siemens has invested more than $100 million in the expansion, which is expected to bring more than 70 new jobs to the area. The additional space at the Walpole site has nearly doubled production capacity, enabling the annual production of over one billion diagnostic tests.
A ribbon cutting event this morning marked the opening of the company's expanded Walpole facility, which will help accommodate the growing demand for Siemens' diagnostic products and services. The event was attended by Senator John Kerry (D-MA), Donal Quinn, chief executive officer, Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics, Jim Hughes, vice president and site leader for Siemens, as well as local dignitaries, state officials, and media.
"Early and accurate diagnosis of disease, along with consistent monitoring of patient therapy are important components of high-quality medical care that help save lives," said Donal Quinn, chief executive officer, Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics. "The critical diagnostic tests that make early diagnosis possible are manufactured right here in Walpole and this expansion is an important step for Siemens Healthcare in providing the best possible products and service levels for our customers.
