Imaging Center Brings One-Stop Shop to Mid-Michigan

Andover, Mass., October 18, 2005 -- Progressive Medical Imaging (PMI) and Philips Medical Systems have entered into a strategic, multi-year agreement to develop the first outpatient imaging facility in the mid-Michigan area utilizing the most advanced Philips technology. The facility will provide patients and referring physicians with advanced diagnostic imaging for early and accurate detection of diseases, such as cancer and heart disease.

PMI is the only area outpatient facility with an advanced interventional catheterization lab, digital mammography, and a SPECT/CT system, which allows physicians to capture anatomical and molecular images together.

"PMI believes the best way to serve mid-Michigan area patients is to provide the most advanced medical technology available and to design our facility as a fully dedicated imaging center around our patients' diagnostic needs," said Charles Guidot, M.D., a managing partner for Progressive Medical Imaging. "We are the only outpatient facility in the area to have the latest, cutting-edge diagnostic capabilities, and our relationship with Philips ensures we will be able to stay ahead of the technology curve for years to come."

The new facility is committed to offering diagnostic procedures using the latest Philips technology within a patient-focused environment. For example, recently a patient arrived for a digital mammography exam and biopsy. Relying on the filmless images, PMI physicians were able to diagnose and consult with the referring physician to determine that a biopsy would not be necessary. Through one visit, the staff diagnosed and consulted with the patient's physician, thus alleviating patient anxiety or stress that may have followed if the patient had to wait a few days or weeks for the results.

"We applaud Progressive Medical Imaging for its approach to patient-focused diagnostic medicine," said John Desch, vice president, strategic, enterprise and government business, for Philips Medical Systems. "The strategic alliance allows PMI, a Philips regional reference site, to advance its technology services to help increase clinician productivity and efficiency in an environment where patients count and people care.
