60,001st Registered User Sets New Milestone for DOTmed

by Barbara Kram, Editor | November 15, 2005
By 2008, DOTmed is projected
to have more than 80,000
registered users
On November 10, 2005, right around noon, DOTmed topped 60,000 registered users when National Instrument Service Corporation (NISC), Farmingdale, N.Y., registered on our website.

A few day after NISC signed up, DOTmed News called to find out why. Alex Gaufman, vice president of the company -- which services medical equipment and specializes in lab, hospital and industrial microscopes -- said, "I was doing some Internet research for a piece of equipment on Google and came across DOTmed as one of the first websites listed. I figured if DOTmed was ranked that high by Google, they must be doing something right, and registered right on the spot."

We're sure he'll be glad he did, especially when he finds out all DOTmed offers. Like posting equipment for free, allowing free access to powerful search tools that help people find equipment and parts from more than 27,000 listings on any given day.

In addition, all listings on DOTmed are user owned. DOTmed does not own anything for sale on the site or compete with its users. DOTmed also helps buyers with free automatic alerts sent when the specific equipment they want is posted. DOTmed also lets buyers and sellers contact each other for free through our own internal e-mail system.

"Overall the [DOTmed] website is phenomenal" Gaufman noted, having only tried us for a few days. "It is very easy to get around. Very comfortable...no crashing anywhere and the links actually work. The idea of having the exposure and bringing in both the medical facility and the vendors to the medical facility ideally is what we are trying to do. As a small company it's nice to get exposure like the big boys with limited resources," Gaufman said.

In addition, DOTmed online auctions are the resale option of choice in our industry, providing a fast, proven way to sell used medical equipment at its true market value. Healthcare professionals visit DOTmed first because we're a specialist not a generalist. The site's heavy traffic results in a large pool of bidders. In addition to over 60,000 registered users in 50 countries, DOTmed has 10,000 daily visitors to the site.

DOTmed's extraordinary growth in both daily visitors
and registered users is due to our philosophy:
"We never compete with you."

"Most of the stuff we sell is refurbished. Our customers upgrade to new systems and get rid of their old," Gaufman said, typifying DOTmed users. "Some of the equipment is really in excellent condition. Some we refurbish into practically demo condition and try to re-sell it as the need arises."

DOTmed, in existence since 1999, also includes a services directory of nearly 10,000 companies with maintenance and repair support, deinstallation and transportation services; a service issues forum from experienced technicians, and our renowned honest/dishonest forum to see comments on businesses and people to avoid. In addition, DOTmed News is the only online news focused on the used medical equipment industry.

Sixty-thousand users can't be wrong. And as of the time this story was published, you can make that 60,344 and counting.
