A hospital run by a prestigious organization in the Midwest had a 2002 GE HiSpeed NXI CT scanner with a 2007 tube that they needed to sell to free space and gain revenue in order to upgrade their facility.
The organization has a strong relationship with GE, and typically would have traded in the unit, having GE deinstall and remove the unit for free. But they were hoping to generate some income through the sale of the machine, so they turned to the DOTmed Auction Team and asked our specialists if the system had value in the open market. The team recognized that it did and helped to create an Auction.

By promoting the unit around the globe and placing the Auction on our homepage, we were able to generate a $30,000 offer in the first round. The organization was very happy with the offer and was willing to accept it, but our Auction Management Team knew the machine was worth more, and would likely get more, so the organization decided to run the Auction again.
With one hour left in the second auction round, a bidding war started and the final offer capped at $39,000. The hospital was able to receive the best fair market price as the successful buyer paid for deinstallation, shipping and logistics.
