An imaging center group came to us with an urgent situation. They had a 1999 Siemens Vision MRI Scanner they needed to sell to get some funds pumped into the bottomline and clear the space for the brand-new modality being delivered in just a few weeks.
Normally, the center would go through brokers or vendors to get the unit sold or traded in to the OEM because that's what had been done in the past.
However, after receiving a couple low offers and being told the unit was only good for parts and there wasn't much interest in this current market, the center registered on DOTmed and was immediately contacted by an Auction Manager.

It was soon agreed the Full Service auction was the best way to promote the unit and generate fair-market price.
The auction team immediately began reaching out to buyers worldwide.
After only one auction cycle, the bidding reached the reserve price and the scanner sold for $24,000 to a facility in India where the scanner model is still in high demand. The imaging center not only received twice the amount they had been offered by dealers looking to part out the system, but it was also able to get the unit removed in time for the new delivery. Since then, the center has listed other idle assets on DOTmed.
