DICOM Grid
DICOM Grid has received FDA approval for new features for managing, viewing, and interpreting medical images with cloud PACS and HTML 5, zero-footprint diagnostic viewer tools.

DICOM Grid’s PACS allows medical groups and other practitioners to manage medical images on-site and off-site. The DG Viewer, which launches images or studies directly into a browser without having to download any extra installation or plug-in, includes a built-in tool which gives a physician the ability to invite a colleague to a live case review session and consultation.

PACS and HTML 5 can also be integrated into health information exchanges (HIE) or certain electronic health record (EHR) systems. Combining medical records and imaging into one core location can potentially save time and prevent the occurrence of redundant radiology exams, while minimizing patient radiation dose exposure.

DICOM Grid currently has over 1.2 billion images under management. They come from more than 750 providers and 70,000 users exchanging medical images with its platform. New England Baptist Hospital (NEBH) and CareWell Urgent Care are the latest to adopt it.

“Because both NEBH and outside studies are available in DICOM Grid, the physicians can easily hang priors performed at other facilities next to more recent studies done within the hospital,” said Tyler Martin, executive director, ambulatory network operations, in a statement. “This streamlines their workflow, allowing them to more rapidly arrive at a treatment plan for the patient.”

“If the patient requests a copy of their report, the tech simply shares the study with their email address,” said Terry Giove, Vice President of Operations at CareWell Urgent Care, in a statement.
