Every year at RSNA it seems like attendance is a popular talking point.

Now, with the official release of RSNA 2016 statistics, the speculation is over.

Official registration figures for RSNA 2016 reported total registrant numbers at 54,037, including 26,988 professional registrants.

That compares favorably with the numbers from RSNA 2015 — which were 51,922 and 26,778 respectively — but falls short of the mark set in 2014, (56,026 total including 28,807 professional).

The 2014 numbers mark the highest professional attendance figure ever recorded for an RSNA annual meeting, but the highest overall attendance total at an RSNA in recent years was 2007, with 62,501.

While the 2015 meeting had the lowest total turnout of any year since then, 2016 showed an increase of 4 percent.

The meeting last November yielded a total turnout that was only 29 individuals higher than the show in 2013 — that includes 5,645 attendees of the 2016 Virtual Meeting.

The show floor at RSNA 2016 housed 663 exhibitors, including 104 first-time exhibitors.

In addition to these attendance statistics, RSNA reports that the estimated economic impact of the event on Chicago is estimated at $131 million.

The organization has also announced the theme of its 2017 show, which will take place November 26 to December 1 of this year: “Explore. Invent. Transform.”
