Fujifilm introduced its Synapse 5 PACS enterprise imaging solution
earlier this month. It's different from the previous version in that it's a server-side platform rather than a workstation image rendering platform.
The DoD and VA are in the midst of a project called the MHS Genesis that will replace their current EHR system. Fujifilm's technology will play an important role in this transition.
MHS Genesis integrates inpatient and outpatient best-of-suite solutions that connect medical and dental information across the care continuum from point of injury to the military treatment facility.
It will support EHRs for over 9.4 million DoD beneficiaries and about 205,000 Military Health System personnel worldwide. It enables the application of standardized workflows, integrated health care delivery and data standards.
In addition to the DoD and VA, Fujifilm systems are also available to other federal agencies that are eligible to purchase from DIN-PACS IV, including Indian Health Services. Twenty-nine facilities around the world have already installed Synapse systems.
