A child receiving relief aid
from the Red Cross, one of
the many agencies providing help
After hurricane Katrina, DOTmed.com was asked by some of our users to help connect their used medical equipment with needy people and organizations in the affected region. In response to those inquiries we contacted several charities, and found Feed The Children.
Feed The Children told us they will accept your donations if you can get them to one of their sites. Their trucks are busy delivering food and other necessities at the moment. Below is information on what they will accept, where to send it, as well as what else Feed The Children is doing for Katrina Relief.

Feed The Children
Founded in 1979, Feed The Children is the 9th largest international charity in the U.S., based on private, non-government support. The mission of Feed The Children is to deliver food, medicine, clothing and other necessities to families who lack these essentials due to famine, war, poverty or natural disaster.
In the fiscal year of 2004, Feed The Children shipped more than 143 million pounds of food and other essentials to children and their families in all 50 states and internationally, supplementing more than 1,040,700 meals each day. Since its founding, the organization has reached out to help those in need in more than 115 countries around the globe.
In response to Hurricane Katrina ravaging the Gulf Coast region, Feed The Children has provided more than 241 truckloads of relief supplies to the area, consisting of more than 5 million pounds of much-needed food, bottled water, cleaning supplies, paper products and other essentials used for emergency relief. Its trucks have headed into Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and the surrounding areas that were hit by Hurricane Katrina. Truckloads are also on their way to Texas, Tennessee and Georgia to assist in relief efforts for those who have been evacuated from the devastated areas. Feed The Children will continue to provide supplies and relief to the individuals, children and families affected by Hurricane Katrina for as long as necessary.
