Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital Foundation has received a $10 million donation from Henry and Marilyn Hansel, marking the largest gift in the Foundation’s history and one of the most significant philanthropic contributions ever made in Sonoma County.
The funding will establish the Hansel Family Care Center and advance a broader $20 million expansion effort to enhance primary, specialty, and women’s health services in the region.
The donation supports the “Caring Together” initiative, which includes the completion of the Hansel Family Care Center at 1162 Montgomery Drive and the development of a women’s health center at the nearby Henry Trione Medical Arts Plaza.

The care center, built in 2020, will expand beyond its existing primary and specialty care services to include a new imaging center and cardiology clinic. The imaging center, to be located on the first floor, will offer a breast imaging suite with contrast-enhanced mammography—technology not currently available north of San Francisco. The fourth floor will house a cardiology center affiliated with the Evert and Norma Person Heart and Vascular Institute.
“Our family has deep roots in this community, and Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital has been there for us and our neighbors through good times and challenging times,” said Henry Hansel. “We’re honored to give back to all who make Memorial such a caring, healing place.”
The women’s health center will be led by Dr. Lisa Tito, a fellowship-trained breast surgeon. Services will include genetic counseling, breast cancer treatment, menopause care, and gynecology.
“This women’s center will be the fulfillment of years of dreaming,” said Tito.
Providence Northern California chief executive Garry Olney described the gift as transformational. “It is an honor to have their name grace our Care Center,” Olney said.
Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year.
