Philips iSite PACS Awarded Group Buy Status from MedAssets

by Barbara Kram, Editor | September 27, 2005
Andover, Mass. -- Philips Medical Systems been selected by MedAssets Supply Chain Systems as a Group Buy partner for PACS (Picture Archive and Communications System) with MedAssets member hospitals. For a six-month period beginning October 1, 2005 and ending March 31, 2006, Philips' Global PACS Business Unit (formerly Stentor) has an exclusive vendor position to provide iSite PACS to MedAssets members with additional pricing incentives and other value-added terms. Philips iSite PACS is an innovative image and information management system that delivers on-demand, diagnostic-quality images over existing hospital networks, advanced radiology reading stations for radiologists, and "always online" longer-term storage.

The Group Buy partner status will provide MedAssets members the ability to utilize either a service-based delivery solution or a capital purchase to implement PACS. Aside from purchasing a new PACS solution, members may also choose to augment their existing PACS with Philips web-based distribution solution, iSite Enterprise. iSite Enterprise is a web-based solution that provides full fidelity, full resolution, diagnostic-quality images and complete patient information anywhere across the enterprise. Implementing a PACS solution not only drives down the cost of film significantly, but also implements efficiencies associated with an enterprise-wide digital image management solution.

"In this competitive market, Philips is honored to be selected as the first PACS provider for MedAssets' Group Buy program," said Paul Unkel, vice president, Corporate & GPO Accounts for Philips Medical Systems. "MedAssets members now will have the opportunity to purchase iSite© PACS at a scalable price, providing them with a high-quality healthcare IT solution designed to enhance the delivery of quality patient care across a hospital network."
