Thinking about his equipment in storage, Fernando realized he had 15 Pentax scopes to sell. So, after discussing specifics, the auction was created. Since the timing of the sale was not crucial, it was possible to run the auction longer for a better price. Persistence paid off. It took a few weeks, but eventually the scopes sold for $7,500. The hospital was very happy with the sale.

Deal or No Deal?

Patricia Hilton's practice was downsizing and she needed assistance selling items quickly. In particular, she had a Candela Laser she needed a good price on. Patricia contacted an Online Auction Manager after visiting the DOTmed.com. After speaking with a DOTmed representative, she was convinced a Managed Auction was the solution she needed.

The auction ran the first time and she received a bid of $12,000. She was tempted to accept the offer because of time constraints but decided to let the auction run once more after speaking with her DOTmed representative.

Patricia was happily surprised to find that the second time around the auction closed for $15,000. Impressed with the value that DOTmed was able to provide, she plans to use DOTmed.com again in the future.

Upgrades Help Up Auction Bid

Jim Murphy of Wellmont Health received a visit from Tennessee Regional Managers Fran and Judy Petrella. During the visit, Jim mentioned to Fran and Judy that a 1998 Siemens Coroskop Cathlab installed in one of Wellmont's smaller facilities needed to be removed in two weeks.

The Petrellas received Jim's blessing to visit the facility to take photos of the unit. They also received the specifications and forwarded all the information to the DOTmed Auction Team in New York.

The DOTmed.com Auction team took over and made a strong effort of promoting the unit knowing time was short. After just one week, a doctor from Chile placed an $8,000 bid.

However, further information was brought to light. It was uncovered that the unit had the latest software level, so Online Auction Specialist, Mark Colavecchio, with the help of his auction team, shared this information with the bidder and he subsequently raised his bid to $12,000.

The bidder then flew in from Chile, inspected the equipment, and proceeded with the purchase of the unit. DOTmed arranged for an engineer to be present for the inspection and to deinstall the unit for the Successful Bidder.

The unit was deinstalled within the time frame set forth by Jim Murphy at Wellmont. This provided needed space and additional revenue - two very welcomed things.
