Varex Imaging has acquired Reliable Healthcare Imaging Technology (RHIT), a company specializing in CT tube repairs.
The acquisition was completed in late October, with Varex, a leading manufacturer of CT tubes and components, telling HCB News that “certain assets” of the deal were in line with “ongoing business interests” and meshed well with its portfolio.
Headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, the more than 65-year-old company employs approximately 2,000 people at manufacturing and service center sites in North America, Europe and Asia. Among its designs are X-ray tubes, digital detectors and other imaging solutions.

Its purchase of RHIT follows a number of other acquisitions and moves carried out this year to expand its presence, including a deal
to acquire 90 percent of Direct Conversion, a provider of linear array digital detectors. It also announced in February, at the 25th annual European Congress of Radiology in Vienna, the
launch of its Service Solutions Group in Europe. The group offers logistical, technical, and other necessary forms of support to manufacturers, ISOs and multi-vendor providers in European countries for the installation of tubes, flat panel detectors, and other components.
RHIT was formed in 2016 by Richard Harris to offer repair services for CT imaging and diagnostic care to radiologists, oncologists, biomeds and service engineers.
