"Philips already had a broad patient care management portfolio for the hospital, including patient monitoring solutions for high- and low-acuity settings, and this acquisition will further strengthen our ambulatory offering. Ultimately, this will support our customers achieving the quadruple aim of healthcare, which is the simultaneous improvement of the patient and staff experience, enhancement of clinical outcomes, while lowering the cost of care," Roy Jakobs, chief business leader of connected care at Philips, told HCB News at the time.
Philips also made news in early December, when its
MX750 and MX850 patient monitors won 510(k) clearance. The devices help hospitals scale up operations and expand acute care and monitoring capabilities, and have encryption technology to combat hacking and cybercrime.

Thanks to their ability to work with Philips’ Patient Information Center iX and IntelliVue XDS software, they can display critical patient information remotely or at the point-of-care.
"Clinicians can create rule-based alerts to detect changing conditions, then receive the benefits of the monitors’ Advanced Event Surveillance features to lessen the cognitive burden and increase patient situational awareness. Interoperability with iPC helps to reduce cost and complexity of EMR connectivity, and can also enable remote monitoring when operated with Philips PICiX or IntelliVue XDS software," Sandra Lesenfants, general manager of hospital patient monitoring at Philips, told HCB News at the time.
