The hospital is currently digital throughout all of its departments, but Mulford still tries to bring in new technology each year. She meets with her administrative staff every year to look at what technology they have and determine what new technology will benefit the patients the most.

"Even though we're there, technology is always changing so each year we evaluate and determine what is the most appropriate replacement for that year," says Mulford.

There is always competition between hospitals to attract more patients and technology can help with that. When patients are deciding what hospital to go to they consider where they will be taken care of the fastest and have the best outcome with the most appropriate cost. Hospitals that implement advanced technology are able to provide those things that patients look for.

Intermountain Healthcare and Northfield Hospital and Clinics have both recognized the need for advanced technology. Technology is rapidly transforming and as a result, health care is as well.

"The name Transformation was chosen very strategically, we didn't choose innovation but we know innovation is part of the process," says Holston. "The goal is to change health care."
